NFTA-Metro Offers Free Fares Wednesday January 22

Agency doing its part to support our most vulnerable Neighbors

Buffalo, .N.Y.- In response to the extreme cold temperatures affecting Western New York, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) will waive fares on all Metro bus, rail, and paratransit services on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. This is an effort to help various warming shelters that are at full capacity. We will also be using our Metro buses to help warm those who have no other options.  Individuals can get on our bus to avoid the extreme frigid temperatures, a lifesaving effort.

This initiative is part of NFTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community during harsh weather conditions.

Additionally, Code Blue clients seeking shelter may visit the NFTA Metropolitan Transportation Center, located at 181 Ellicott Street, between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM to obtain tickets for transportation to designated Code Blue shelters.

Regular fare pricing will resume on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
