NFTA Transit Police Applications Now Open

TAPD Applications are open


BUFFALO, N.Y. -The NFTA Transit Police Department is recruiting the next generation of law enforcement professionals, with applications now open for the 2026 Transit Police entrance exam. The department is encouraging dedicated, service-oriented individuals to apply for an opportunity to build a rewarding career protecting Western New York’s public transportation system.

 

As the region’s transit law enforcement agency, the NFTA Transit Police are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of thousands of riders, employees, and visitors throughout the system every day. Officers serve in an environment that offers a variety of assignments, specialized training, and opportunities for career advancement.

 

“The Transit Police is a growing department that offers a wide variety of rewarding career opportunities,” said NFTA Police Chief Brian Patterson. “We are committed to community policing and fostering a diverse, professional workplace where employees can build meaningful careers while serving the public.”

 

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and take the first step toward a career in public service. Applications, a study guide, and additional information are available at nfta.com/careers/tapd.

 

Completed applications must be submitted with a $25 certified check, money order, or personal check payable to the NFTA. Applications may be mailed or delivered in person to:
