NFTA partners with Go Buffalo Niagara for Earth Month
BUFFALO, N.Y.- The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) is thrilled to announce its partnership with Go Buffalo Niagara’s Commuter Rewards Program in celebration of Earth Day. This collaboration aims to encourage sustainable commuting habits while rewarding participants for their eco-conscious choices.
For the month of April, commuters who log at least 10 trips in the Commute Portal, will automatically be entered to win a $50 Shop 716 gift card. Gift cards can be redeemed at over 150 local businesses, promoting both environmentally friendly transportation and support for the local economy.
Each sustainable trip logged will earn participants 10 points for, walking, biking, or carpooling, and 20 points for using public transit. Once commuters accumulate 100 points within a month, they will be entered into the raffle. This initiative not only incentivizes eco-friendly commuting but also fosters a sense of community engagement and support for local businesses.
"Since 2022, our Commuter Rewards program has been supporting people who get around without relying on a personal vehicle,” said Christine Krolewicz, program manager at Go Buffalo Niagara. “We hope the raffle for three $50 Shop 716 e-gift cards in April for Earth Month will be an extra incentive for people who typically drive alone to explore a different commute; taking transit just one day a week will get you into the raffle! Once you get started on the Commuter Portal, you'll be able to explore your options there and compare the financial and environmental savings. Plus GO Buffalo Niagara offers free 20-minute transportation consultations to guide you through a new commute!"
“We are excited to partner with Go Buffalo Niagara in promoting sustainable transportation options for our community,” said Kim Minkel, Executive Director of NFTA. “By incentivizing public transit use and supporting local businesses, we are taking meaningful steps toward a more eco-conscious and vibrant region.”
