Senior Maintenance Person
Description of DutiesWorks under the direction of the Operations Manager. Performs necessary maintenance on facilities and grounds, including marina dock installation and removal, and keeping docks in good repair. Typical AssignmentsPerform design, layout, and construction of new projects. Assist with carpentry maintenance, repair and construction, grounds maintenance, preparation and application. Make recommendations regarding material, specifications, and application procedures as required. Make necessary minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grounds repairs. Operate light and heavy equipment such as forklifts, front-end loaders, snow plows and dump trucks. Operate work barge, crane on work barge, workboat, weed harvester, operate pipe threader, and/or other marine equipment as necessary. Perform normal maintenance functions such as welding, burning, grinding, roofing, glazing, landscaping, cleaning, and painting with specialized paints. Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to operate lawn tractor, lawn mowers. Ability and willingness to climb and work from ladders. Ability and willingness to operate watercraft and work on water in all types of weather utilizing proper safety equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance trade. Ability to read, write, and understand technical specifications, instructions, diagrams and drawings as they pertain to electrical work. Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent. General maintenance and marina construction experience preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license. Physical RequirementsRequires approximately 20% lifting heavy-duty electrical wire from dock trays on/off spools. Extreme balance is required to assist working on the work barge and floating docks. Must be able to swim. Must be physically able to assist crane operator with hooking and guiding steel/wood docks both on land and water weighing up to 3000 lbs. Must be physically fit to wear respirators. Environmental RequirementsRequires capability of performing essential job functions in both indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions, heat, smoke, dust, fumes. |

HELPER
Description of DutiesPrimary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: general cleaning and preparation of vehicles for service; the operation of out-of-service vehicles on or about the property; checking the cleanliness and serviceability of equipment and appurtenances of vehicles; and reporting of defective or non-serviceable conditions. SPECIALIST (CONDITIONAL)
NOTEAny Metro Bus/Rail employee in a classification represented by Local 1342, may make written application to Human Resources, for the vacancy described below. The application shall include a detailed statement of the applicant’s qualification and application must be received on or before March 1, 2010. Description of DutiesThe job involves all manner of inspection, preparation and completion of any type of work normally done in the department. Analyze defective, unserviceable or deteriorating conditions of units, parts and appurtenances, to determine the extent of needed adjustment, repairs and replacements. Examine, test, check and repair engines, injection pumps and nozzles. Perform all types of tool grinding and all manner of lay-out work, and set up and operate crankshaft, piston, valve grinders , doing work to specification tolerances. It consists of the giving of adequate instruction relative to any or all work performed in the department, the exercise of judgment relative to the discovery and reporting of unsafe and irregular conditions; and the protection of all Company property during job performance. Job Requirements• Exercise attention and vigilance to prevent and avoid work failures. • Improvise minor work expedients in the course of department operations. • Explain and demonstrate to others all job details, methods and procedures when directed to do so by the Supervisor or his deputies. • Perform any or all of the work assigned as duties for any jobs in subordinate or comparable classifications, and perform all duties with a speed and accuracy satisfactory to supervisory authorities. • Develop a knowledge of Company policies pertaining to the work involved. • Must be certified under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 and 609 certification for refrigerants. • Must be able to wear and utilize all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) • Employee must possess and maintain a valid NYS Commercial Driver’s License. (CDL – BP with towing endorsement for vehicles with a Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) over 26,000 lbs.) • Graduation from a credited high school or equivalent combination of education and experience. • The duties stated above are an outline of duties that are performed. There may be other duties and tasks assigned that are not stated in the above responsibilities which will become part of this or any job as directed by Supervision.
