Senior Maintenance Person
Description of DutiesWorks under the direction of the Operations Manager. Performs necessary maintenance on facilities and grounds, including marina dock installation and removal, and keeping docks in good repair. Typical AssignmentsPerform design, layout, and construction of new projects. Assist with carpentry maintenance, repair and construction, grounds maintenance, preparation and application. Make recommendations regarding material, specifications, and application procedures as required. Make necessary minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grounds repairs. Operate light and heavy equipment such as forklifts, front-end loaders, snow plows and dump trucks. Operate work barge, crane on work barge, workboat, weed harvester, operate pipe threader, and/or other marine equipment as necessary. Perform normal maintenance functions such as welding, burning, grinding, roofing, glazing, landscaping, cleaning, and painting with specialized paints. Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to operate lawn tractor, lawn mowers. Ability and willingness to climb and work from ladders. Ability and willingness to operate watercraft and work on water in all types of weather utilizing proper safety equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance trade. Completes correspondence for clients and/or health care professionals. Posts and prepares statistical documents. AIRFIELD SUPERVISOR
General Statement Of DutiesUnder the direction of the Airfield Superintendent, this position involves supervising daily operations of airfield maintenance for the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Typical AssignmentsSupervises and assigns tasks to subordinates to ensure proper maintenance of the airfield in a safe and efficient manner. With the Airfield Superintendent, conducts probationary and annual review profiles of each employee and recommends Grade increases, training, and discipline. Prepares weekly manpower for production schedules. Provides technical advice and informal on the job training, arranges for training in the safe operation of equipment. Sets up painting schedule and assists painter with painting. Provides input to the ACM and conducts FAA inspections. Makes estimates of material quantities, orders and receives quantities, and conducts minor construction project management. Executes the wildlife management plan, monitors and maintains the operation of underground storm water and glycol collection systems. Develops specification for the purchase of new equipment, Performs departmental administrative duties. Performs other related duties as required. Job RequirementsKnowledge of regulations pertaining to airfield operations (e.g. FAA and NYS) to operate safely and efficiently; knowledge of airfield maintenance equipment and materials. Ability to communicate effectively with airport personnel for giving directions and reporting airfield conditions; ability to supervise subordinate staff to ensure safe and efficient operation of airfield; ability to operate two-way radio to communicate with others. This position requires strong intrapersonal skills to apply a broad understanding of NFTA policies, safety regulations, and airfield maintenance policies and procedures. Minimum QualificationsMinimum of an Associate’s degree in Airport Aviation, several years of supervisory experience and several years experience (e.g. 5-7) in airfield operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work weekends, and all shifts. Physical RequirementsRequires standing approximately 30%of the time, sitting approximately 50%, lifting weights such as fencing materials, sacks of fertilizer and sod, weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs. for long durations, approximately 10% of time, and bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching, approximately 10% of time. Must have visual acuity of at least 20/40 in each eye without corrective lenses or visual acuity separately corrected to 20/40 or better with corrective lenses and distant binocular acuity of at least 20/40 in both eyes with or without corrective lenses. Applicants must demonstrate through an unaided hearing test, the ability to meet the Hearing Standard for Airfield Personnel Operating Vehicles on Aircraft Movement Areas. This requires no hearing loss in either ear of more than 25 decibels in the 500, 1000, or 2000 Hz ranges, and no hearing loss in these ranges of more than 20 decibels in the better ear when tested. Description of DutiesThe job involves all manner of inspection, preparation and completion of any type of work normally done in the department. Analyze defective, unserviceable or deteriorating conditions of units, parts and appurtenances, to determine the extent of needed adjustment, repairs and replacements. Examine, test, check and repair engines, injection pumps and nozzles. Perform all types of tool grinding and all manner of lay-out work, and set up and operate crankshaft, piston, valve grinders , doing work to specification tolerances. It consists of the giving of adequate instruction relative to any or all work performed in the department, the exercise of judgment relative to the discovery and reporting of unsafe and irregular conditions; and the protection of all Company property during job performance.
