NFTA seeks Public Comment on PFC Application Process

December 13 , 2006

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) has commenced the process of applying to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for authority to increase the passenger facility charge (PFC) paid by certain enplaning passengers at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BNIA) from $3.00 to $4.50. The FAA has issued regulations that require public agencies such as the NFTA to make available for comment a notice of intent to file and application for authority to impose or use a PFC or to amend a previously approved record of decision regarding PFC’s.

NFTA is making available the Airline PFC Consultation Document, dated December 13 , 2006, regarding the NFTA’s intent to file an application with the FAA to increase the PFC at BNIA to $4.50.  Click here to access the Consultation Document.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit comments concerning the NFTA’s proposed PFC application, either electronically to Vito_Sportelli@nfta.com or by mail to Vito J. Sportelli, Manager Capital Grants, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, 181 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, New York 14203.  Comments received by January 13, 2006 (32 days after the initial posting of this notice) will be considered by the NFTA in its application and will be included in the NFTA’s application to the FAA.  Comments submitted after that date will be considered by the NFTA, to the extent possible.
