The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police Department welcomes you to a highly respected law enforcement agency devoted to the traveling public. The purpose of the Transit Police is the protection and detection of crime, and the enforcement of federal, state and local laws. Police officers in this department perform a number of fundamental duties, including patrolling transportation facilities, responding to calls, conducting criminal investigations, making arrests, writing reports and providing testimony in court.

Transit police officers have vast opportunities to advance into specialized units such as the K-9 Unit, Bike Patrol, Honor Guard and Community Policing.

The Transit Police Department is a non-civil service agency, but does follow all guidelines and standards established by the New York State Department of Criminal Justice and the Bureau for Municipal Police with regard to testing and hiring of candidates.  Transit police officers receive training at either the Erie County Central Police Services Training Academy or the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy.

The geographical area of employment for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Transit Police includes Erie and Niagara counties.
